Valentine's Day 2012

This year marks the second time in all my years of celebrating Valentine's Day. Many think Valentine's Day has pretty much lost it's true meaning but that doesn't necessarily apply to some people. I for one still believe in Valentine's Day. Not that I am expecting an over the top celebration. In fact the two times I have celebrated this day, 2011 and this year, both were done on a very minimalist scale. No expensive gifts and fancy dinner dates. Honestly, I prefer a laid back date rather than a fancy date :)

So this year was also another laid back celebration but what made this year's even more special was that it was completely and totally a surprise and it blew me away :D I actually thought I won't be celebrating this year. But I was surprised with flowers and better yet A HOMECOOKED MEAL! Instead of going out on a special date, I had dinner with the person I'll always want to spend my time with and that was even more special than anything else. Best Valentine's Day so far :) I'm a lucky girl and I'm so thankful for having him in my life

Flowers :)

Homecooked pasta! Tastes delicious. 5 Stars from me :D

Thank you so much
I LOVE YOU

Today marks the end of my holidays for this whole semester. Since I am on what they call a short semester pretty much everything is rushed. The first week of classes and my lecturers were reminding us about how short our semester is. I have 11 weeks to finish both Units 5 & 6 for Biology and Chemistry and Statistics 1 & 2 for Maths. :(
After those 11 weeks comes my trials which is on April 16 (they already fixed the date for trials since December) then followed by revision classes and "study break". Right after that comes the final exam. To hear and see it all planned out like that makes me so scared that I might not be able to keep up with the pace. Especially if the lecturers are speeding through the syllabus like bullet trains. I will be one big blur headed person in class.

Jumping into more happy news, I met Mei Huey at the bus station today! :D I haven't seen her since September or October last year I think. Last time we met up was at Lakeside's cafeteria and I passed her her much delayed birthday gift. To see her again at the bus station was so nice. Although we only managed to talk for a little while. Especially my epic ice-cream-squash move which sent the poor lady's ice cream flying onto the ground. That made our whole conversation derailed as I was so embarrassed at what happened. I will miss Mei Huey a lot when she leaves for the US. She's one big bubble of fun in a petite form. I saw how emo her face was. Mei Huey if you read this don't worry we shall communicate always. Even if you are 13 hours behind us LOL And if you ever come back from US for holidays or anything like that you know where to find me :) Btw, I still owe you a something. Can you remember what it is? Think think think then come and claim before you leave for US. Haha

Class resumes tomorrow and all I can think of now is shopping and going out. My mind is clearly not in the right frame of thought. Plus the stress of not being able to find the right bridesmaid's dress for my cousin's wedding is making me freak out. The wedding isn't until March but I haven't found the right dress to wear. Time is passing by so quickly now that I think I might not have enough time to find myself a dress.

It's Valentine's day in a week.
Sending out all my love to the one person
That matters the most,
YOU

2012
It is a new year and like all new years there are always changes in the new year. This year, 2012 is not an exception. I kicked start this year with several changes. Nothing major though.

#1: A new year a new look.
For those who saw me in 2011 you will remember me with my really long hair.

After keeping my hair for more than a year, I decided to cut it off. Half of it off. Especially since the ends of my hair were dry and spoiled due to the dye. I basically ruined my hair by dying it last year. This is what Loreal Majirel 2010/2011 collection did to my hair :( Loved the colour but did not like the after effects. So this is what I look like right now:

Basically my hair has this two toned look. About a quarter or more of my hair is dark brown starting from the top and the remainder a mahagony brown. I actually kind of like how it looks now. Makes it look like I have what they call the 'Ombre' hair colour which I think is a really cool look although many think it gives off the impression of not bothering to touch up my roots. Oh well :)

#2: The New Roomiee!!
I am super excited about this. I officially have a new roommate this year. Yes many will be having question marks over what happened with my previous roommate. Those who already know I do not need to elaborate. For those who are completely clueless, sorry to say I am not going to dish in this post or any other post for that matter. I may and may not spill the beans if you meet me and we catch up and talk about stuff. But it is highly unlikely that I will spill the beans. I think it might make things a whole lot more complicated if I did.
Moving on from all that and back to the actual topic. My new roommate is a year younger than me and she is [I think] really smart :) She is doing A-Levels too but January 2012 intake. Makes me feel so senior LOL Her name is coincidentally Christine Lim. So that makes her the second Christine Lim that I know. It was pretty awkward when we first met but we are good now. She never fails to make me laugh. We are always laughing in our tiny little room from morning until bedtime. I am actually pretty sad thinking about the possibility of her leaving if she gets JPA and the fact that I am currently in my last semester so I am moving out from my hostel by the end of June or July.

I couldn't think of a #3 so I will continue blogging just like normal :)

Now time for more serious matters. And by serious I mean real serious. What am I talking about??

EXAMS

Yes. It is that 5 letter word that is always a serious word. You never take an exam as a joke do you. Exception if it's an April Fool's day joke obviously.

Anyway, my January exams just finished and many know that instead of going house visiting and collecting red packets, I was poking my nose into the pages of my books and feverishly scribbling answers on my question booklet. My Chinese New Year for this year of the dragon is pretty much pathetic but for the sake of my future, sacrificing one Chinese New Year is nothing. (Who am I kidding. I have been saying how sad my life is for having exams during Chinese New Year :P)

I won't say that my exam went well but it wasn't horrible either. I won't say that I will definitely get all A's for this round of exams. I am not that confident in my answers. I am pretty sure that I will be getting a few papers which are less than an A. I actually calculated my marks for some of the papers. I know it is a pretty weird thing to do. Many will probably ask me to stop thinking so negatively but from what I have learned from the many exams I have taken, I should not aim for the sky if I am not sure I am capable of it. I know we are taught to aim for the stars but I have stopped doing that. For my exam grades at least. I find it quite useless to aim for an A if you already know it isn't possible. Of course I don't mean that you should stop aiming for a good grade. What I mean is aim realistically. If you aim too high or expect too much, you need to be prepared if you do not get what you aimed for. The disappointment that comes with not achieving what you aimed for can be quite a hard blow to your self confidence.

So my way is: Do the best you can. Aim realistically and whatever comes comes. After doing all that you can, all that is left is beyond your control :)
(Disclaimer: This method or thinking works for me both emotionally and mentally but I do not guarantee that it will work or bring the same effects to everyone. Kindly take note if anyone decides to try out my way. Don't come bashing me for the misguided ways and whatnot. Try at your own expense.)

Results are due in early March. That leaves me about a month or so to freak out a little over my results :S I hope for the best and I am keeping my fingers crossed. Please be good and not bad. Not stellar excellent but just good. I don't expect for much :)

Wedding bells for the cousin in March.
Bridesmaid duties up ahead.
I am oh-so-excited and oh-so-elated :D
